Harvest Time!

A few weeks ago we took down our latest harvest. We had a small team bucking the plants (on tables 10 feet apart) and then one person running the wet trim machine. All grown under Black Dog LED PhytoMAX-2 grow lights.

One of the buds prior to trimming.

We talk a lot about indoor grown hemp as we believe there are significant advantages to growing indoors (don’t get me wrong, we love outdoor grown hemp too). The first and foremost reason is we can complete more harvests per year than if we were to grow outdoors or in a greenhouse. On average, we harvest every 6 – 8 weeks (all year round!). This means more strains more often for you.

We are also able to control the THC levels in our hemp to ensure they remain 2018 farm bill compliant. We begin testing the potency of our hemp on the 5th week of flower. Historically, hemp (and cannabis) flower for 10 – 12 weeks. Flowering to full term means higher levels of Delta 9 THC (legal limits are below .3%). with the genetics we are currently growing with we see legal levels of Delta 9 peak at week 6. We are testing potency literally daily on week 6 and harvest once the levels are at or close to the legal limit.

The spectrum our plants are grown under include UV and IR (which are essential for healthy plants). The PhytoMAX-2 series lights contain the most complete spectrum for growing all types of plants. They also encourage higher levels of minor cannabinoids like CBG, CBN, Delta 8 THC and many more. Another great result from the spectrum is increased terpene production. This is why we feel our indoor grown hemp is a more potent product packed with high levels of cannabinoids and terpenes.

Here are the strains we took down at harvest

  • Cutie – Named after the small oranges you find in the produce department. Citrusy and uplifting! a Happy Flower Exclusive.
  • Yummy – This strain tastes a little like bubble gum. A potent strain with relaxing effects.
  • Sweet Tea – Another exclusive from Happy Flower. Extremely fragrant with a subtle smell of berries.

The strains will be available in just a few more days. We let them cure for 3 weeks to ensure a nice smooth consumption experience. Stay tuned and sign up for our mailing list so you can be notified of specials and new strains!
