After you have vaped hemp flower, you may think it’s time to empty your vaped contents in to the trash. But wait! That vaped hemp flower still contains precious cannabinoids and terpenes that can still be used!
ABV
ABV stands for Already Been Vaped. You may also hear the term Decarboxylation when referring to vaped hemp. This is the process of heating hemp flower over a period of time which converts the cannabinoids from an acid to a non-acid making them available for your body to use. I would not suggest ingesting the vaped flower immediately after a vape sesh. To put it bluntly, the taste is very bitter and bad. Why not make ingesting your edibles an enjoyable experience instead?
One of the easiest ways to make edibles from your vaped flower is to make hemp butter. The process is relatively easy to do and you can use items you most likely already have in your kitchen.
The Supplies
- A saucepan
- 4 sticks of butter or 2 cups of coconut oil
- A quart of water
- A mesh sieve or cheesecloth
- An ounce or more of AVB
Step 1
Place the water in the saucepan and bring to boil and add the butter or coconut oil in the saucepan. Melt completely then turn down to simmer.
Step 2.
Place your ABV in to the melted mixture
Step 3.
Simmer for 3 hours. During this time your mixture will release many potent smells. Don’t worry these are just the terpenes.
Step 4.
Strain the mixture into a bowl through the mesh sieve or cheese cloth. Be sure NOT to get any plant material in to the bowl as this will increase the planty taste to the butter.
Step 5.
Let the mixture cool for about an hour and then place in the refrigerator to solidify. Take a knife and run along the inside edge of the bowl to separate it from the bowl. Carefully remove the butter from the bowl and pat any excess water from the butter. Store in a container with a lid in the refrigerator for use.
That’s it! Now use your hemp butter in any recipe that calls for butter.
