It’s Harvest Time!
The time has arrived! We are harvesting our first indoor run of our hemp flower. We are so pleased with the flower and have learned a lot from this grow. Unfortunately with the arrival of COVID-19, we have some logistic challenges ahead of us for the harvest.
Originally we planned to have a group harvesting the plants. Now that we are observing social distancing, we have had to forego our wet trim harvest plans and now dry the whole plants by hanging them upside down. After about 10 – 14 days drying, we will use that time to come up with a plan for harvesting the dried product.
Most likely we will be “bucking” the dried plants with a very small team and feeding the buds in to a trimming machine. This will be very time consuming, but it will ensure that we are still observing social distancing. The dried buds will then go directly in turkey bags for curing and stored in large light proof totes that will be “burped” daily for the first 2 weeks. After another week of storage in the curing containers, the flower will be for sale!
